It's Time To Open Shoppe!

Hello lovelies! Today is a very special day for me. Back in high school, I opened up a jewelry store called Alli's Baubles. I was so proud of it, but after my freshman year of college, I got a bit bogged down with school and wasn't able to find the time to really give it the attention it deserved, so it sort of dwindled. Today, I am reopening under the name Allena Mistral. The aesthetic is more classic and I couldn't be happier with the pieces in my Shoppe. I'm so excited about this that I'm giving you a chance to win a piece of jewelry! Also, some of my lovely sponsors have agreed to give you some ad space as well! This would be a great way to promote your business or your blog.

Don't have a business or a blog? That's fine! Enter anyway! If you win, you'll win the necklace and the Starbucks gift card and I'll pick another person to win the ad space.

My own, personal work

Good luck everyone!!!

Embracing Change

Happy Monday! It's my last Monday being out of town and I'm so excited to go home... Is that bad? As much as I've loved being on vacation, I'm really sick of the act of travelling and I can't wait to have some stability for a while.

Can you all tell I'm in need of a change?? All of my motivational quotes lately have been about change, but I'm seriously in love with this one!

Do You Know These Lovely Ladies?

This is my third and final installment of sponsors. All of these lovely ladies are so wonderful and I can't thank them enough for being sponsors this month! Check these four out and say hello (or howdy, bon jour, or whatever floats your boat)!

Breanna from My Beautiful, Crazy Life

Tell us about yourself:

Hello Lovelies! I'm Breanna and I blog over at My Beautiful, Crazy Life! I am first and foremost a Christian who strives to live each day for the glory of God and secondly a nutrition student who has a passion for creating beautiful things! I just recently made a childhood dream come true by opening up an online shop, called Breeze Creations where you will find hair accessories of all sorts! If you venture this way you will find a hodge podge of awesomeness ranging from things I love to the journey's on which I embark! I hope you'll stop on by and stay a while; I'd love to be your friend :]

What is the best thing about where you live?

the beach!

Tell us something random about yourself:

I own a swimsuit for each day of the week :)

Breanna's blog always has some really great features, including her new monthly link up, Me, Myself and I. I've gotten a chance to talk with her over google+ through the Blogger hangout and I can tell you from personal experience that she's just as sweet as she seems in her blog.

Danielle from Framed Frosting

Tell us about yourself:

I first began my blog in April of last year as a way to document the end of my high school years. Now it has evolved to be about all things fashion and beauty related. I love to bake too and am hoping to include some more recipes on the blog soon along with some DIY projects. I am also obsessed with chevron and mint green, which you'll see by my blog design!

What is the best thing about where you live?

Kansas is pretty boring most of the time, but I love all the shopping near us. We have three outdoor malls that are so much fun to shop at when we have a weekend of nice weather!

Tell us something random about yourself:

Oh geez...umm...I just ate strawberry shortcake for dessert! YUMMY!

Danielle is so super sweet! Every week, she organizes Current Crush Thursday, which is a super awesome link up where we all talk about what fashion trend or anything else we've been crushing on this week. I always fall in love with her crush too!

Jess from Jess is More

Tell us about yourself:

Hi there! I'm Jess and I blog over at Jess Is More.  I am the future wife to Jeremiah, momma to 3 fuzz balls, and a domestic diva in training. My blog follows my mission to do more and get the most out of life – after I’ve had my morning coffee.

What is the best thing about where you live?

I've lived in Minneapolis, MN for a little over 4 years.  I think that I love the most are all of the parks, trails, and mom-and-mom places that are EVERYWHERE.  The whole city is a perfect urban oasis.

Tell us something random about yourself:

I worked at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL for my first job.  I was in "entertainment" - let's just say I was BFFs with Chip, Dale, and Pooh Bear.

First, can you say "jealous!"?? I wish I could be BFFs with Disney characters!! Jess is such a spontaneous person and I'm pretty sure she gets more out of life than most everyone else I know! I also am obsessed with her series What Lily Ate Wednesday. It looks like her dog and my puppies are on the same wavelength!

Rebecca from Revkah

Tell us about yourself:

I'm Rebecca, an aspiring journo and lifestyle blogger from the UK, with a curiosity for fashion, DIY, books and whatever else tickles my fancy.

What is the best thing about where you live?

The weather. No, not really. Because if anyone knows anything about Britain, the weather is not lovable. I think I'd have to say that it's a community I've been brought up in, with friendly faces and family. Nothing can beat that.

Tell us something random about yourself:

I survived Hurricane Charlie, 2004, Florida! We were on a family holiday: just our luck.

Rebecca is so super fashionable! She has also introduced me to a super awesome discount jewelry store called Kukee. I always look forward to seeing what she's going to wear next!

Well, I hope you guys enjoyed meeting my third group of lovely sponsors! Make sure you come back on July 31st for the group giveaway!

What's Going on in the Life of Alli?

Okay, maybe you DIDN'T ask that question, but I'm going to answer it anyway. Why? Because it's Thursday and, as most of you know, I would normally be participating in Current Crush Thursday over at Framed Frosting. Unfortunately, the internet that I have where I'm staying on vacation is currently wavering between not so great DSL speeds and pre-dial-up speeds (aka it took me more than 2 hours to upload an 86 kb picture two days ago...) Sooooo rather than linking up with Danielle, I figured it would be a good time to let you all know what is happening with me.

I'm currently at Lake Chelan in Washington which is beautiful! Don't believe me? Check out my instagram. It's been such a great vacation!

Three wonderful ladies have featured me in the last week on their blogs, so I think you all should check them out:
There's a new blog design coming soon, so stay tuned! Here's a sneak peak:

Lastly, I'm sending a call out for all August sponsors! Both spots include a shout-out and the ability to participate in a group giveaway. You'll also get a ton of shout-outs on twitter (because I've become obsessed). Want to get your spot on my sidebar for next month? Email me at AllenaMistral{at}gmail{dot}com for the swap code!

What the Heck Is...?

I used to pride myself on being "in the know" but I have to confess, as I get older (at the ripe age of 23, yes, I am calling myself older) I'm starting to lose touch with pop culture so I have a few questions and I thought, what better way to get them answered than to go to my wonderful bloggy friends.... As these get answered, I will edit the post.

1) What is this "Keep strong and ..." crap? I'm lost!

2) Why did it take Katie Holmes this long to kick Tom Cruise to the curb?

3) Why am I still hearing Chris Brown on the radio? Shouldn't all women be shunning him for beating Rihanna?

4) Speaking of Chris Brown, why is the song called "International Love" My boyfriend and I would love to know what is international about New York and LA...

5) Why can't blogger be like facebook and give me notifications as to when people comment or reply to stuff... Seriously, facebook works. Google, you're bigger. Make it happen!

These are only a few of my burning questions, but inquiring minds....

Do You Know These Lovely Ladies?

Well you should! Today, I'll be introducing the second set of the wonderful women that have made a small home on my sidebar. They're all wonderful and I'd love it if you'd head over to their blogs and check them out!

Allison from Feeding Your Temple

Tell us about yourself:
I'm Allison. A 26 year old mom and wife. Follower of Jesus. Sister to 2. Living in Oklahoma. Feeding My Temple follows my life as I try to balance feeding my body, mind and spirit with the Word, fitness, and amazing food.

What is the best thing about where you live?
The people!

Tell us something random about yourself:
I'm terrified of fish and any drain.

Allison's blog is great! I'm so happy we were able to meet through the blog-o-sphere. She made a recipe for chocolate cake (with chocolate sprinkles because you can NEVER have too much chocolate) that I'm seriously wanting to try when I get back to a place where an oven is present! Check out some of her other dessert recipes too!

Chelsea from Yours Truly

Tell us about yourself:
My name is Chelsea and I am the motormouth behind Yours Truly! I'm a 20-something Vancouverite that is currently on an adventure living in New Zealand with my cute Kiwi boyfriend. I like kayaking, blog design {check out my design page for more info!} and eating edamame. I am a bit coffee-obsessed and I spend far too much time on Pinterest. I would love for you to stop by and say hello!

What is the best thing about where you live?
The ocean! Although I don't like to go in it because I'm a semi-thalassaphobic {fear of the ocean}, it makes for super beautiful views. New Zealand has awesome beaches! Cool fact: on the east coast, the sand is white and on the west coast it's black! Weird, right?

Tell us something random about yourself:
I am a crazy cat lady, but I don't own any cats myself. I swear, I have an open spot in my heart for every single cat in the world, hahah! I'm also obsessed with Hello Kitty...my laptop is COVERED in Hello Kitty stickers and I own anything and everything that's Hello Kitty.

Chelsea is so super sweet and her blog designs are adorable! I'm in love with her stuff and not only is she an awesome designer, but she's got some awesome fashion and lifestyle content on her blog! ...And as she points out here, she looks a lot like Chyler Leigh (aka she's super cute and looks like a star!)

Jen from Whitfield Awesome Blog

Tell us about yourself:
By day, I work for the man in [mostly web] marketing. By night, I make art, write words and live life in a small-ish town in Florida. I would love to be a full-time humor writer when I grow up (31 isn't grown up, right?).

What is the best thing about where you live?
I'm less than one hour from the world's whitest beaches - Pensacola and Navarre.

Tell us something random about yourself:
I would really like for Tom Hardy to carry me around in a papoose.

Jen makes me laugh hysterically! I mean, the picture says so much! Every week, she answers your questions in Touché Tuesday and her answers are always helpful (because, if nothing else, laughter is the best medicine). I highly recommend her blog for your daily ab workout (yes, it's that funny).

Jenny from Modern Modest Beauty

Tell us about yourself:
I am a wife, mom, flight attendant and lifestyle/fashion blogger!  My passions in life include travel, fashion, crafts, my faith and spending time with my family!

What is the best thing about where you live?
The outdoors!  Here in Utah there is so much to do outside, whether it's hiking, skiing, fishing or camping...it can all be done here in the Beehive state!

Tell us something random about yourself:
Hmmm...this is always a hard question.  I have a pretty large collection of unicorns...that's pretty random, right?

I was so happy to have found Jenny's blog last month! She has wonderful style and really knows how to dress! She truly is the epitome of looking great while being modest! She's also introduced me to some wonderful brands and every time I see a post from her, my fashion sense gets giddy (although my wallet does not generally have the same butterflies, but it did when she posted this!)

Kristine from The Foley Fam {unedited}

Tell us about yourself:
Hi there lovelies! I'm Kristine! I share and document our adventures over at The Foley Fam {unedited}. When I'm not blogging my attempts at being a fun mom and wifey, being "fashionable", and our everyday adventures, I'm making pretties for my Etsy store J&M's Eye Candy Shoppe. I believe if you're not loving and laughing you're not living baby! If that sounds like your cup o' tea then come on over to our place and introduce yourself. We might not agree on everything, but we can still be friends, I promise! Holla!

What is the best thing about where you live?
Best things about where we live, is how close we are to our families!

Tell us something random about yourself:
I'm 4 ft 11 inches #almostalegalmidgit

Kristine has got to be one of the most awesome moms on the planet! Just look at how much fun they have! I'm also pretty sure Kristine has fueled my obsession with twitter and hash tags. Not that that is a problem at all!

I hope you guys enjoyed the second set of sponsors! I love all the lovely ladies on my sidebar and there's one more sponsor spotlight to go! Please head over and say hi to these lovely ladies.

Rebuilding

To be honest, this Motivation Monday hits pretty close to home. I'm in need of a change and it really does feel like a rebuild.

Source

Sometimes, it takes falling apart to realize that it's time for a change, and that's what it did for me. I was so afraid of falling apart that I freaked out and now, I'm rebuilding. The rebuilding process has been so awesome and I'm so happy that I'm going through it.

Do you agree with Rae?

The Power to Change

Hello new friends!! I am so happy to be here today and am honored to
be able to meet you all. I am also honored to be writing this guest post for
Alli. My name is Abby, and I blog over at Pink Lemonade. On my blog, I write
about life as a wife, fashion, new trends, things I LOVE, and interesting
highlights that happen in my life. I’m just living life sipping Pink Lemonade
and I would love it if you would stop by and have a glass with me!

Today I want to write about something that I am very
passionate about and hope you are as well. If not then maybe after reading this
you will feel like you have the power as well.

When I was growing up I thought I had the power to change
anything. I felt that I had the power to cure hunger, put a roof over
everyone’s head and give the world peace. I was always trying to help people in
need. When I was about seven or eight I started a fundraiser in our church to
help the missionaries that our church supported. Even though the fundraiser was
just collecting extra change I do believe that the church gave close to one hundred
dollars. When the fundraiser was over, we sent the money to the missionaries and
the feeling of being able to help them was an overwhelming joy in my heart.

The older I got the more I realized that the work I was
doing probably would never cure hunger around the world or give the world
peace. This realization discouraged me for quite a while. But then I realized I
have the power to change the things that I can. We all have the power to change…

We have the power to change ourselves
We have the power to change our relationships
We have the power to help others, right in our own backyard
We have the power to LOVE each other
We have the power to change our attitude about life
We have the power to be a part of something BIG
We have the power to forgive others

As one person I cannot
change the world, but I can change the world of one person. – Paul Shane Spear

We have the power to do much more than we think. When we use
the power that God gave us to change and help others that person will help the
next person and so on. When you think that you cannot make a change in this
world, just think how much change you could make by simply changing your
attitude toward the next person you come in contact with.

I
hope that you have a wonderful weekend and remember you have the POWER to make change
happen!

Get to Know Brooke!

Covered in Grace

Hello new friends!! I'm so happy to be here today and to get the opportunity to meet you all.
My name is Brooke, and I blog over at Covered in Grace. There, I write about life as a mother, student, military wife, photog wannabe, writer and Jesus lover. For those of you that don't know me yet, I thought I'd answer a few questions about myself so yall could get to know me a little better.

1. How did you come up with the title of your blog?
Covered in Grace was something that had been rolling around in my head for a while. I had been blogging at My Beautiful Brooke for a long time, and while I was ok with the title, "beautiful" because HE sees me, it still wasn't sitting well with me-not completely. Covered in Grace encompasses what I believe, how I live, and pretty sums it all up. I am Covered in Grace through faith in Jesus.

2. If there was one blog post that you'd direct your readers to, what would that be?
Oh man, I'd direct you to any of my faith posts, but right now, the one that I love so much, that really tugs on my heartstrings right now is "...all summer long."  You can also see a branch off of that post at From the Guest Room.

3. What is your go-to quick fix meal when you've spent too much time on Pinterest/Your Blog been very, very busy?
Ha! Pancakes? Biscuits with eggs? Anything breakfast!

4. What is something you're looking forward to this coming summer?
I'm finally going back home to Texas for a visit!! I have been stuck on this rock in the Pacific for two and a half years (without leaving) and I am sooo excited to finally head out for a little bit. My little brother is getting married! And I'll finally get to see my niece! Woo!

5. Do you have any goofy talents or specialties?
Why, yes. Yes I do. I can make a siren sound by throat-chopping myself. It's very, very awesome. I think I'll do a vlog to demonstrate.

6. If you could be a character from any book through out the entire story, what book-what character?
Oh, that's easy. No question. I would be Claire Beauchamp Randall Fraser...wife of Jamie Fraser. (oooh la la) She's the heroine in the best books ever....the Outlander series. If you haven't read these books, YOU MUST! These are the books I recommend over all others.

7. What is the best piece of blogging advice that you've ever received?
Be yourself. Write about what you want, feel, believe. And don't worry about the numbers.

8. What is your biggest dream?

To grow old with my husband. But after that...it's to become a published author...to just be a writer and have my words reach the masses.

9. What is your favorite Saturday morning like?
Waking up whenever, breakfast with the family, heading outside to be in this gorgeous Hawaiian weather...

10. Why do you blog?
I blog to practice my craft. To use my gifts. To reflect on my spirituality and faith. I blog to glorify God. To share my favorite things. To network with others. To maintain daily writing habits. I blog because it has become a fantastic hobby...and because I love it.

I would love it if you'd stop by and visit me from time to time!
You can find me here:

Getting to Know You, Getting to Know All About You...

About a week and a half ago, I saw Breanna's post at My Beautiful, Crazy Life about getting to know other bloggers. I thought it would be fun to participate and share a bit about myself while I'm on vacation!

What is your biggest phobia?
I'm irrationally afraid of the dark outside my house. I'm always worried I'm going to get shanked and, even though I know this won't happen, if there were a hidden camera, it would see me walk calmly to my destination and then scurry back in to the house at night.

If you could relive any day of your life, what would it be and why?
November 6th, 2011. It was my first date with Ryan, which was wonderful! He took me to a pottery painting place, we ate frozen yogurt in the park and he took me to one of our, now, favorite restaurants, Jax Kitchen. :)

If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be?
To be honest, there's no age that I've reached so far that I would want to stay. I'm so happy with the way my life is going and I can't wait to see what the future holds. If I HAD to pick an age, I'd say 23 (I'm 23 right now). I've been so happy with everything that's happened this year in my life. Plus, I'm of legal age, and, with a $200 deposit, I can rent a car. What more do you need??

Which celebrity do you get mistaken for?
Well, no one every mistakes me for a celeb (at least that I know of...) but I'm kinda a celebrity at my school. I'm the "face of the department" because I'm the girl talking in our safety video and close to 2000 students have to watch that video every semester... I've been recognized around Tucson. There have been some seriously embarrassing times that I've been recognized (like the time I was in front of one of the guys who used to make fun of me in high school at the grocery store...)

What songs are included in the soundtrack of your life?
This is a hard one! There's a lot of hurt (like Gravity) but there's a lot of happy (like Settlin') too! I'm a country girl at heart, so anything by Carrie Underwood, Sugarland, Kelli Pickler or Miranda Lambert could be included somewhere in my soundtrack...

So, now that you know a bit more about me, why don't you tell me about you! Link up with these lovely ladies and give me your link in the comments!

It's Time for a Change...

Happy Monday!
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend as much as I did! I'm still camping, but I'll be back soon and, while I'm gone, I have two wonderful guests on Wednesday and Thursday! Please come back and show them some love on those days!

I love this quote! Do you think you need a chance in your life? What's stopping you?

On The Road Again!

Well, we're off! Today, we're leaving town for a bit to head to Colorado to go camping :) I might not have any internet access... Here's hoping I do though! If I do, I'll be updating instagram and Twitter, so stay tuned!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Current Crush::My new hair

Okay, so I'm going outside my normal current crush set up to talk about this... I'm so excited about my new hair!! This picture doesn't even do it justice, but here it is:

My new hair!

So, I've been wanting to cut my hair for a while now, but it's kinda felt like a security blanket (anyone else feel that way?) I finally decided that it was just time. I took in this picture:

Source
and my hair dresser Srey at Shear Vanity in Phoenix (yea, I drive 2 hours to get my hair cut... don't judge) did her thing! It was magic. I'm absolutely in love with it!!

What are you crushing on? Go link up with the beautiful Danielle at Framed Frosting:

Current Crush Thursdays

And, just because I feel like adding to the strange-ness of this post, I looked her up on facebook. She's from Phoenix. My ex went to her high school.... This world is way too small....

Replying to Comments

Okay, so maybe this isn't so new to others, but it's new to me. I just realized that even though I get an email when I reply to your comments, you very likely don't... (this comes from Rachel... I replied to her comment last night and she had NO way of knowing) So, from now on, I will be replying to comments via email. This will reduce my headache of feeling like a bad blog owner because you don't know that I've actually bothered to comment on your comment. I love you all and want you to know that I pretty much respond to EVERY comment.

Thank you for listening to my rant.

Do You Know These Lovely Ladies?

Well you should! Today, I'll be introducing some of the wonderful women that have made a small home on my sidebar. They're all super sweet and you should definitely take the time to get to know them!

Abby has been so sweet over the past few weeks! I'm so happy we met in the blogosphere and, guess what! She'll be participating in the large group giveaway (my first, might I add!) at the end of the month! Also, if you're in to the Bachelorette, she's doing some wonderful recaps of the current season.

Brooke from Covered in Grace

blog | facebook | twitter | hello cotton | bloglovin'

Tell us about yourself:
Hello new friends!! I'm so happy to be here today and to get the opportunity to meet you all.

What is the best thing about where you live?
Right now, I live in Hawaii. While I'm so ready to move on to the next chapter of our lives, I'm definitely going to miss the weather...and the gorgeous foliage everywhere. The trees and the flowers are so abundantly beautiful and bloom year-round. I'm going to miss being outside at any time of the day and just enjoying warm breezes. And I'll miss the hikes in the mountains...and wearing sundresses all year...

Tell us something random about yourself:
I'm the world's best human siren. Seriously. Check me out here!

So I've gotta say, I've seen Brooke's siren. She's the best human siren I've ever seen! I also envy her courage for putting her talent out there on the internet on VIDEO! I'm too nervous to do that. Maybe if she offers another talent link up, I'll muster up some courage! I'm also super jealous that she gets to live in Hawaii!

Jennie from Oh...This is Awkward

Tell us about yourself:
If you ask anyone, and by anyone I mean myself, I am terribly hilarious. I blog. And I'm awkward. It's really a genius combination.

There are many, many men to date. Sorry guys, I gotta call it like it is.

What is the best thing about where you live?
I live in Framingham, MA (biggest town in the US) and the best thing is its proximity to everything. Shopping, Boston, cupcakes, shopping, cupcakes…shopping - I think you get the gist.

Tell us something random about yourself:
I read at least a book a week, have visited 7 countries, and am extremely phobic of chickens.

Rachel has been so super sweet! She'll be taking over this here blog on July 19th, so come back and check it out! She also has NO idea, but very soon, I'll be asking her about Boston, since I'll be moving there in a year! PS: She'll ALSO be participating in my group giveaway!

I hope you guys have enjoyed getting to know these four as much as I have! There's definitely more where that came from! I'd love it if you'd head over to their blogs and say hello!

Courage

Hello lovelies!

Happy Monday! Sorry I've been MIA from the blog-osphere. My new place doesn't have internet yet, so I'm absolutely out of the internet loop. About all I have is email on my phone, and, truthfully, that's not very good! I'm going to work as hard as I can to be caught up by the end of the day tomorrow! So, are you ready for your motivation?

Source

I love this quote. Apparently, it's from We Bought A Zoo, which I haven't seen, but now, I feel like I have to.

Have you been super courageous lately? How so?
