The Night I Spent Five Hours in a Sports Bar... AKA New Year's Eve

Sometimes, you just need a mani/pedi... (more on this later, but this is essentially why you have not heard from me since Monday).

Do you all want to hear about what a lame a$$ I am? Okay, cool! The day before NYE, my bestir and I booked a hotel on the Vegas strip. Yes, we had been talking about the trip for about a week, but we never actually booked the hotel, so on the 30th, we were like "oh, crap! Maybe we should do something about that...." We looked on the travel sites and all the hotels were at least $300 to stay on strip, but after some careful looking by Lulu, we found Mandalay Bay for $280. So stoked because I knew it was a really nice hotel and for $280, that's not bad! Well, after getting there, we got a random upgrade! (PS, I'm never booking a hotel until the day before again!!) We ended up in one of the most bomb-diggity rooms ever! (Yes, I just said bomb-diggity)

Our room at the Four Seasons

Tell me that is not AWESOME! Not only was the room amazingly beautiful and posh (the shower had two shower heads... say wha??), we were on the top floor, so our view was phenomenal!

Our view of the Vegas strip. Yea, those are the only fireworks pictures you're getting...
After we settled in, we went searching for gluten free food, which was actually quite easy! We ended up in New York, New York (incidentally, that's the city I'll be spending next NYE in!) and we found a sports bar that served amazing food!

Me and Lulu at our new favorite sports bar
This sports bar had some of the most amazing mashed potatoes I've ever eaten! Seriously, if you're in Vegas, go the the sports bar in NY, NY. Also, if you can find the awesome server, Jeni, she's awesome to talk to about everything! You know how much we enjoyed ourselves at that bar? Enough that we spent the majority of NYE in that bar talking to Jeni. Ha!

At 11, we decided we should head back to the room and charge our phones before going out for a dress and heels night. When we got back to the room, though, we got somewhat swallowed up by our beds and decided that watching the fireworks from the 39th floor of the southern most point on the strip sounded like a much better idea!

It was one of the best New Year's I've ever had! The next morning, we went to lunch at Trevi in Caesar's Palace with another friend and then headed home to start our New Year right (with some pampering ala a mani/pedi)

PS, I'm notoriously bad at getting my life goals dealt with. I tend help everyone else before myself and forget about the big picture of taking care of myself and meeting my goals, so this year, I decided to make worksheet for myself. Here's what I've come up with and I'm sharing it with you so that you guys can get organized too!

You're welcome to download the PNG of the planner and use it as you see fit!

What have you done to try to get yourself more organized for the new year?

  1. I find that the more organized I try to be the worse I am at actually being organized lol. Does that make any sense whatsoever?
