And a Shelby Series 1 (not to be confused with Shelby Mustangs or Cobras. These babies are their own thing!)
Yea, this is how epically cool my dad is. He's driving a Messerschmidt. I bet you don't even know what that is! (We didn't either until about 2 weeks ago, so I'm now just pretending I'm way cooler than I actually am)
When I was a kid, I found out that my dad loved cars, so even though none of my friends were in to them, I became obsessed! This was where the tom-boy began! So you can imagine when my dad said, "hey, let's buy a body for a '56 Ford and fix it up," I was totally on board! This is our new father-daughter project:
I have an obsession because the first '56 F-100 was sold exactly 33 years before I was born... Like to the day!
Okay, but enough about my crazy obsession with old cars (and a $100,000 car that was only made for 2 years). Let's talk about Barrett-Jackson! As most of you know, I work as a driver for them, so I get to drive some seriously cool cars... Be jealous! This is the most selfies you will probably EVER see in a post from me. Why? Because I don't really take pictures of myself...
Let's start with the cars I didn't get to drive, but thought they were fun/kitschy.
Okay, tell me this thing isn't absolutely adorable!!!! This is an Isetta. I have been informed that this is the Steve Urkle car... I quite obviously do not know enough about the TV shows that everyone else in my generation grew up on. Except Boy Meets World... and Sabrina... and Rugrats... and Invader Zim... okay, I'll stop.
ANNNNNDDDDDD..... Here's selfie #1!
I would have gotten away with it... if it weren't for those meddling kids... and that dog! Okay, seriously, adorable! This thing sold for $100,000.... Not exactly sure why, but it's fun!
Speaking of large purchases, we had the ORIGINAL Batmobile come through. Sold for $4.2 million! Some said, "he's gonna put it in his living room. Why would you spend $4.2 million on a car and put it in your living room." To which my only response is two fold. 1) Why would you drive something you spent $4.2 million on?? That just seems like you're asking for someone to ruin your investment. and 2) Why would you drive a Batmobile ANYWHERE?? No matter how much you paid for it. On another note, I hope this man (or woman, who knows) goes all Bruce Wayne and decks out his living room like the Bat Cave. Sir, if you do and you ever find this blog post, please send pictures!
I drove this adorable little car (circa 1942!!) and thought, "how cool is this?? I'm driving a car older than my DAD!!" I thought I would never drive a car older than this... until....
The Candy Truck! Yea, that is a 1922 Chevy Canopy truck. I felt AWESOME driving this off the block. Granted, I did not want to park it, but still. Super cool!
Then later, I got to drive a 1931 Ford Model-A from Gas Monkey Garage (aka the guys behind Fast 'n Loud)
I even got to meet Richard!! Ps, he's wearing rare earth magnets around his neck as a necklace. Awesome!
And for those of you not amazed by old cars, here's a beautiful '07 Mercedes:
Do you like cars? If so, what's your favorite?
Now I want you guys to meet Alyssa from Elemental Carbon. This girl has some SERIOUS DIY talent. First off, Alyssa is as much of a nerd as I am. In case you were unaware, I have my Bachelor's in Chem... She's currently working on her Bachelors in Chem. This kinda makes us intellectual sisters. Therefore, she's immediately awesome! When I saw her prime numbers clock, I fell in love with her all over again!
But not all of her tutorials are super nerdy! She's got a few phenomenal fashion ones, like lengthening dresses with lace and my personal fave of some fabulous feather earrings!
Not a DIYer? No problem! Go pick up a pair of these babies in her Etsy shop!
And for those of you who want a kindle/ipad cover but don't want to pay the high price tag, Alyssa's got you covered (hehe, just noticed the pun)!
