Some People Are Good...

Today's going to get a little real... sorry. The story I'm about to tell you will, hopefully, explain why I've been a bit spotty on the blogging.

This is something I've been struggling with lately. Over the past three weeks, I've been dealing with some health issues. They're relatively private and I promise I will enlighten you guys soon, but for now, all that is really needed for this discussion is that they're not problems that a normal 24 year old has. But let's be honest, I'm not normal! I have glaucoma!! If that's not strange, I don't know what is. After getting told by 3 health professionals that what I have is either "not a big deal" or that there's no way that that could happen to me since I'm only 24 even though I have imaging with conclusive proof, I was feeling a little down. I have to say, it can be really frustrating to have what feels like the entire medical community telling you that what you have couldn't be causing the problems you have or completely ignoring the fact that you could even have a problem!

Well, enter doctor #4! I've been seeing this doctor for about 3 years now and she's phenomenal! She's a specialist, so I don't see her very often, but when I do, she's so helpful! Luckily, this problem overlaps in to her area of expertise. I went to see her, she sat me down and said, "yup, it's messed up. There's no easy fix. We're going to have to operate." Laparoscopic surgery doesn't scare me. I was crying when she told me I'd have to have surgery, but they were tears of joy. Someone finally didn't think I was a hypochondriac. Someone was finally listening to me! She restored my faith that someone, somewhere will be able to help me get through this. Is it strange to be happy that I'm having surgery?

Either way, I want to talk to you about 3 other super awesome people today as well. Let's bring the happiness level up a bit!

As you may know, the lovely Kaitlyn from Wifessionals does a Cara Box exchange every month. So it's time to tell you all about the lovely box that I got from Leanne of Top This by Leanne. First off, I absolutely LOVE this lady's love story. It was so wonderful to get to meet such a spontaneous, passionate person and connect with her over the month. And this is the wonderful package she sent me:

Sorry for only one picture... I'm soooo excited about my date night!!!

This month's theme was #ClubSexy, so we were supposed to send some stuff that would make for an awesome date night with the boy (or to pamper ourselves, whatever). With my and Ryan's crazy hectic schedule, it was wonderful that she put together something we could do at home!

We now have a "picnic blanket" so we can go back to being in grade school and eat on the ground, something I've actually really wanted to do for a long time. Ryan and I love to go camping, so this is kinda like eating while camping, except a controlled climate is involved, which of course makes it that much better!

She sent me some gorgeous plates to serve dinner on too! I'm absolutely in love with the water color look, which these flowers are, so she nailed it!

We also got some stemless wine glasses because who doesn't like a vessel to hold your alcohol that is more idiot-proof than most??

The candle she sent smells GREAT! Leanne has no idea, but I'm kinda obsessed with candles. I have them everywhere! The funny thing is, I never light them. I figure they smell without lighting them, so why risk it with the open flame? Okay, maybe I'm crazy!

And last, but certainly not least, there were a TON of Hersey's Hugs in my package. Let me just say that, again, Leanne has no idea how awesomely she hit this one on the head. I'm a huge chocolate fan, but for some reason, the mix of white and milk chocolate in a Hug is soooooo much better than regular chocolate.

So, Leanne, Thank You!!!! I sent my box to Cheltee from Something About You and Me and I absolutely can't wait to see her recap!

One awesome person down, two to go! Ladies and gents (okay who am I kidding... ladies) go grab a box of kleenex and watch this video. This high school student makes you want to be a better person. It's such a sweet gesture that this boy did. He reminds me that there is still a lot of good in this world.

Good person numero tres! Kaitlyn from Wifessionals!

blog . twitter . instagram . facebook

First off, Kaitlyn is one of the sweetest "big bloggers" out there. She spends so much time organizing the Cara Box exchange for all of us so that we can get to know others on a more personal level. Over the past few months, I've had the opportunity to get to know Kaitlyn on a more personal level as well, and I've found out we're super similar.

We both are advocates for our own health. We both like to make things in the kitchen (although hers turn out WAY better than mine). And both of our significant others are devilishly handsome blondes named Ryan (not the same one of course because that would create minor amounts of tension).

And if you really want to know about Kaitlyn being a good person, check out her post about jealousy. Sometimes, we all need a little reminder to be nice, whether we're jealous or not.

So be nice and go visit Kaitlyn!

  4. When Kaitlyn lived in AZ we did a meet up! She is just as amazing in person! I am glad you were able to really advocate for your health. As a nurse, I have tons of different view points on the matter, but it would take a day to write out all my ramblings haha!
