Wardrobe Essentials

Since I opened my own jewelry business in July, I find myself actually dressing nicer than I used to. I guess I just want to express a better appearance for my business?? Well, whatever the reason, I've been wearing nicer clothing and wearing more jewelry than I ever have before. Yes, I was a jewelry designer who basically never wore jewelry... Crazy, I know!

All of that being said, I still love a good basic! Something that will never go out of style, something that can be dressed up or down and something that I have in my closet in every color of the rainbow. With basics, all you need is one flair piece and all of a sudden, you look super put-together! So today, I'm here to show you my Wardrobe Essentials.

The Basic T: Everyone needs one! Whether it's slightly flowy or form-fitting. V-neck or boat. Black or white. Either way, you need one (or more). They're a great base and, in the winter, you can easily wear a coat or sweater over them.

Jeans and Jean Shorts: The basic blue jean. It has a different meaning to those of us who teach an indigo synthesis experiment, but whatever. Blue jeans are timeless. They will never go out of style. Darker washes are recommended, as they lend themselves to being dressed up more.

Tank Top: Again, a basic that you can put under anything. Bonus points for being cute and wearable to the gym! Work to gym in as much time as it takes you to change your pants!

Cardigan: Okay, I may get some debate on this, but cardigans are awesome! They're warm and comfy and super cute! I'm a fan of the ones that are asymmetrical and flowy, but you might enjoy the basic ones more. Whichever works, they're great for that slightly chilly building.

Boots: Every time I say "boots" I think of that Ke$ha song... but we're talking about fashion, not pop stars. I love me a pair of calf high boots. They go perfectly over skinny jeans and they make you look amazing! Ankle boots are good too. But seriously, a good pair of comfortable boots can get you far in life.

What are your wardrobe essentials?

  1. How about a good bra! In my experience the bra you wear can make or break the way the rest of your outfit will look!
